Listen to songs from Female Smuggler on Myspace:

Well believe it or not this is Jo's first solo Cd. (She did a CD years ago called 'Traditional Songs of England' but this was done on request from the company who wished to release it, arrangements done by them etc etc.) So this is her first in reality.
The intention behind the CD is to reflect the diversity of Jo's music. It's all here: instrumental, vocal, traditional and contemporary, and much of it is penned by the maestro herself. Some projects that were great fun to do were never recorded and so bits of those appear here: 'Chasing Water', which originally appeared in a show called 'Mad, Bad and Dangerous' about Lord Byron; and the Breton pieces which were played originally in a Breton Brittish collaboration co-ordinated by Jo called Belen.
There are colaborations: Claire Sadler wrote the tune for 'Oh America' Claire was a vocal student of Jo's with an ear for a great melody, so Jo asked her to do this and then there's 'Roses'. Words by Jo, tune by brother-in -law Barry Coope.
Thank you to Debra in America for sending through the following comment by email
"I'm sitting here listening to "Roses" over and over. It's unspeakably beautiful. The sound and voice blend together like a marriage. The sound is indescribably beautiful You're terrific!! Debra" Wow - thanks again Debra.
Jo will be promoting the CD as a trio, joined by Neil Ferguson and Jude Abbott from Chumbawamba.
